Swiss born Australian
painter Heinz Steinmann has lived as a full time artist in his beloved
far North Queensland for over four decades. His works are best known for
the way they interpret his life and ventures in the Babinda Rainforest,
the Cape York wilderness and the wide open spaces of the Gulf of
Carpentaria.
His highly personal style stands aloof from avant-garde trends and is
unique in its expressive power that communicates with us on a deep and
personal level.
Heinz Steinmann has also achieved wide acclaim in Europe with important
exhibitions in Switzerland, the UK and Germany, as well as the ZDF
television documentary of his life and work.
Through numerous major solo
exhibitions over the years in our leading galleries; including
Australian Galleries Melbourne and Philip Bacon Galleries Brisbane he
has long become one of Australia's widely recognised artists.
For nearly half a century the mainly
recluse artist has rendered his many poetic interpretations, personal
visions and dreams that have made a significant and exciting
contribution to Australian art.
