Heinz Steinmann is one of the
world's most highly ranked sprinters in Masters Athletics. Over the past
three decades he has won over 50 international medals including the
sprint double in the US Masters in San Diego in 1989 and the 200 meters
gold in the European Championships in Budapest 1990. He holds numerous
records including five for Queensland, still unsurpassed since 1984,
including 10.9 in the 100 meters when aged over 40.
At Easter the Australian 4 x 400meters relay team
M65+(see photo) beat the long established world record held by Germany by over
six seconds at the National Masters Athletics Championships in Adelaide.
